Fifty years ago, the Willowbrook Consent Decree marked a turning point in disability rights history. It signified a commitment to dismantling systemic neglect and championing the dignity and inclusion of people with disabilities.
On January 29, 2025 we looked back at this this landmark moment and hosted a panel featuring CIDNY board member and former Willowbrook resident, Bernard Carabello, journalist Geraldo Rivera, and former Willowbrook social worker Tim Casey.
