The Benefits Counselor will assist consumers with a comprehensive intake, assessment of needs, entitlement benefits screening, information, and referrals, and ensure appropriate follow-up of services. In addition, consumers will have the opportunity to develop an independent living plan that documents their goals, steps to achieve them, services that will support them in seeking their goals, and outcomes. The benefits counselor will assist individuals in knowing their rights and understanding how to self-advocate. The counselor will engage in advocacy together with and on behalf of consumers, including representation in hearings and appeals. This position is currently hybrid but will be based at our Queens office.

CINDY is seeking compassionate and skilled mental health clinicians to join CIDNY’s Home Based Crisis Intervention (HBCI) team as Crisis Interventionists. This role provides intensive, short-term, home- and community-based crisis intervention to youth ages 5-20 with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD) and co-occurring mental health needs who are at imminent risk of psychiatric hospitalization.

The LTCOP Ombudsman Advocate will represent the program by investigating and resolving complaints related to long-term care facilities. This position requires 3 days a week in the field, making visits to long-term care facilities in Brooklyn and Queens, and 2 days a week in the office, supporting the virtual call center. You will advocate for resident rights, provide educational presentations to staff and residents, manage high call volumes, ensure data entry accuracy, and collaborate with volunteers to handle cases effectively.

CIDNY is seeking a Housing Specialist will assist individuals in locating affordable housing options in NYC, helping them understand their rights in getting reasonable accommodations and home modifications, and providing advocacy services in order to resolve current housing issues. The Housing Specialist also provides housing subsidies to individuals transition or diverting from institutional settings in NYC to the community.
