Independent Living Specialist
The Independent Living (IL) Specialist will report to the Director of Housing Programs and will work collaboratively with the Rapid Transition Housing Program (RHTP) Housing Specialist, as well as other programs at CIDNY. The IL Specialist’s key role is to assist individuals with disabilities live independently in their communities, with adequate and continuous support in place.

LTCOP Ombudsman Advocate/Brooklyn Nursing Homes
The LTCOP Ombudsman Advocate will represent the program by investigating and resolving complaints related to long-term care facilities. This position requires 3 days a week in the field, making visits to long-term care facilities in Brooklyn, and 2 days a week in the office, supporting the virtual call center. You will advocate for resident rights, provide educational presentations to staff and residents, manage high call volumes, ensure data entry accuracy, and collaborate with volunteers to handle cases effectively.

OHS Housing Specialist
CIDNY is seeking a Housing Specialist will assist individuals in locating affordable housing options in NYC, helping them understand their rights in getting reasonable accommodations and home modifications, and providing advocacy services in order to resolve current housing issues. The Housing Specialist also provides housing subsidies to individuals transition or diverting from institutional settings in NYC to the community. The housing specialist will also conduct a regular housing workshop and outreach throughout NYC.

Peer Independent Living Specialist
The Peer Independent Living Specialist will report to CIDNY's Chief Program Officer and work under the Department of Employment Vocational Rehabilitation Services. The primary function of the PILS is to provide comprehensive benefits counseling, independent living skills development, and direct services (e.g., housing assistance, assistive technology, youth transition, information and referrals, and recreational activities)—education and training referrals to people with disabilities.
