Food Stamps

More New York City residents with disabilities rely on food stamps (40.8%) than their national counterparts (28.9%) or State counterparts (34.1%). People with disabilities who live in the Bronx have the highest food stamp participation rate at 53.6%.

Through the Nutrition Outreach and Education Program (NOEP), we help households to apply for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly food stamps). We help ensure that new applications are submitted and processed correctly and assist with recertification and other SNAP application issues.
